Job Purpose/Summary

The Sourcing Analyst or Sr Analyst will be part of a client sourcing service delivery team, responsible for development and execution of simple and/or intermediate sourcing projects. The Sourcing Analyst or Sr. Analyst will execute sourcing projects, in most cases from start to finish, including but not limited to – validating sourcing requests per client guidelines, analyzing requirements for the bid packages, communicating with client requester’s to close any data gaps, preparing and publishing bid packages to the identified suppliers for bidding purposes, following up with suppliers to ensure adequate participation, and analyzing and summarizing proposals back to the requester. 

Key Responsibilities / Job Duties

  • Sourcing Execution: Provide sourcing services (RFP, RFI, RFQ) to our clients based on predefined service levels, managing multiple (5 – 10) simple and/or intermediate projects simultaneously under the supervision and guidance of team leads
    • Once a project request is received, assess completeness of requirements, perform due diligence and validation, follow up with the requestor to obtain further project details and answer any process related questions/status 
    • Gather and summarize bid requirements, prepare bid package and publish to suppliers using an eSourcing tool
    • Follow instructions contained in a category strategy card (if applicable) and other available client process/documentations regarding which suppliers to use and how to obtain quotes/proposals
    • Research and identify suppliers as required (i.e., supplier discovery)
    • Conduct supplier orientation and training on the bidding process, follow up with suppliers on milestone activities
    • Analyze proposals submitted, prepare summaries, and present back to the client in a concise manner
  • Client and Program Support
    • Project documentation (e.g., creating project folders, spend and savings documentation and validation, status updates)
    • Support additional client projects outside the scope of day-to-day activities.
    • Sourcing Analysts may also support the delivery of other DSS procurement and sourcing services including: spend analysis, supplier performance management, and contract administration
  • Teaming
    • Support teammates on various sourcing activities as assigned (e.g., RFx development, NDA management, spend data analysis, and proposal summarization)
    • May participate in peer reviews for other team member’s projects and check for quality, consistency and compliance with DSS methodology and client specific requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Procurement Functional/Technical Skills:
    • General knowledge and understanding of sourcing/procurement fundamentals (e.g., basic proficiency in pricing structures, RFx formats, survey development)
    • Ability to navigate client and DSS systems to obtain required data
    • Strong Excel skills, including working knowledge of filters, sorting, pivot tables, basic formulas, advanced formatting techniques, and advance data manipulation skills
    • Working experience with at least one eSourcing tool (e.g., Ariba, Procuri, Iasta, Zycus, ERP eSourcing module)
  • Business Fundamentals:
    • General project management proficiency (e.g., understands project management basics)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (internally, with client stakeholders, and the supplier community)
    • Ability to follow a process based on documented guidelines
    • Strong team player
  • Client Services Capabilities:
    • Strong customer service orientation and relationship management skills
    • Ability to learn client specific processes, terminology, political environment, systems and unique requirements by various business groups


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • MBA or master’s degree in supply chain, operations, or business preferred
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of work experience in procurement, sourcing, operations, or supply chain functions
  • Understanding of one to three sourcing categories (e.g. cost/pricing structures, terminology, typical requirements, key vendors, etc.)
