Our client, a leading fortune 200 financial services company, has engaged our firm to obtain talent for a Director – Strategic Sourcing position for Indirect Spend & Services including Professional Services, IT, HR, Travel, Marketing and Legal.

Roles and Responsibilities The chosen candidate will manage the procurement needs for their assigned commodity group.  This role will be the dedicated single point of contact for all supplier transactions and procurement needs and will have overall accountability for supplier management’s support of this category.  This role is responsible for ensuring that company policies are adhered to and for ensuring that appropriate documentation exists for all of their transactions. This individual is expected to develop (and provide oversight to others who will develop) Indirect Services sourcing strategies, supplier communications, request for proposals (and related due diligence), cost analytics, category strategies, supply market analysis, deal strategy, pricing strategy, deal negotiations (contract terms and conditions, scopes of work, pricing, service levels, etc.), contract development, and contract administration. The successful candidate must have significant prior experience in Indirect Spend & Services including Professional Services, IT, HR, Travel, Marketing and Legal. They are also expected to act as a central point of contact for a transaction and are responsible for engaging all the internal parties relevant to a given supplier transaction. This individual will have stakeholders throughout the organization, so excellent influencing and communication skills are a must.  They may also have a team of associates reporting to them and will be accountable for effectively managing, mentoring and developing a team of world-class Sourcing and Contracting associates.  Managers are expected to work in a collaborative environment with internal customers internal as well with other groups within company.

Seeking candidates with:

  • 8-10 Years of procurement experience with a Fortune 500 company including significant experience in Indirect Spend & Services including Professional Services, IT, HR, Travel, Marketing and Legal. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of delivering cost savings through strategic sourcing
  • 7 years of experience in a Sourcing, Contracting or Supplier Management role
  • Expertise in managing Indirect Spend procurement categories and in-depth awareness of the supplier marketplace
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to structure and comprehend numerical analysis and optimization strategies
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Experience in people management, strategy development, process design, project delivery, or sourcing in diverse industries
  • BA or Military Experience Required and MBA, consulting experience or relevant change management experience desired
  • Experience in outsourcing and/or implementation of large projects that required a diverse team of associates
  • Experience leading business and legal negotiations of complex Indirect Spend related sourcing and outsourcing deals
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in an autonomous environment; ability to generate and pursue ideas; complex project management skills; written and verbal communications
